Earth Hour 2010

  Earth Hour first began from Sydney, Australia. Many corporations and 2.2 millions of households turned off all of their lights in order to show their stance on the climate change. Then next year, Earth Hour became an international movement done by over 50 millions of people from 35 countries. Some world-famous landmarks such as Colosseum(Rome, IT), CN Tower(Toronto, CA), Golden Gate Bridge(San Fransico, US) and Sydney Harbour Bridge(Sydney, AU) stood in the dark as a symbol of hope against the desperate climate change.

  지구촌 전등끄기 행사는 호주 시드니에서 시작되었으며, 여러 기업들과 220만 가정이 동시에 전등을 점멸함으로써 기후변화에 대한 자신들의 입장을 표명하였다. 1년만에 이 행사는 35개국 5000만명 이상의 사람들이 함께하는 국제적인 행사가 되었다. 로마의 콜로세움, 토론토의 CN타워, 샌프란시스코의 금문교, 시드니의 하버브릿지 등 세계적으로 유명한 랜드마크들이 악화되어가는 기후변화에 대항하는 희망의 표식으로 불을 끄고 어둠속에 서 있었다.

  On March, 2009, billions of people took part in the 3rd Earth Hour event. Officially, over 4000 cities from 88 countries switched off the lights to make a promise to support the environment. They made Earth Hour the biggest climate change movement in the world.

  2009년 3월, 수억명의 사람들이 3번째 지구촌 전등끄기 행사에 참여하였다. 공식적으로 88개국 4000개 이상의 도시에서 환경에 대한 지지의 약속으로 전등을 껐다. 지구촌 전등끄기 행사는 이제 지구에서 가장 큰 기후변화운동이 되었다.

  And now, Earth Hour 2010 will occur on 27th March, at 8:30PM local time, all around the world. This event courages you to make a sustainable future with your responsible behaviors. Many famous symbolic buildings from Europe to Asia and America will turn off the lights and stand in the dark. This is not only just pushing the switch button. This means that we will have time to ponder upon the planet we’re on.

  2010년 지구촌 전등끄기 행사는 3월 27일 지역시간으로 20시 30분에 전세계에서 행해질 예정이다. 이 행사는 우리의 책임감있는 행동으로 지속가능한 미래를 만들어 가도록 장려한다. 유럽과 아시아 및 미대륙을 아우르는 많은 상징적 건축물들이 불을 끄고 어둠 속에 서 있을 것이다. 이는 단순히 스위치버튼을 누르는 것으로 그치는 것이 아닌, 우리의 지구에 대해서 깊이 생각해보는 시간을 갖고자 하는 것이다.
